Is a soy free diet for me?

So I’m sure you have all heard the buzz about soy free products and are wondering if this fad is for you?  The answer should be YES!!  Even if you aren't allergic to it you should avoid this ingredient in your daily diet.

Soybeans are a species of legumes that produce edible beans.   These beans contain large amounts of isoflavones, which operate as phytoestrogens. A phytoestrogen is a plant-based compound that activates or inhibits estrogen receptors in both males and females. Soybeans are an endocrine disruptor, meaning they interfere with the endocrine systems normal functions.  Soy also contains phytic acid, which inhibits the body’s ability to absorb vital minerals such as magnesium, calcium, zinc, copper and iron.

Soybeans are not just unhealthy for our bodies, they are also not very good for our environment.  At 79 million hectares, soybeans are the fourth most harvested crop in the world.  So what happens with all of this soy we produce?  Approximately 85% is used to feed livestock a cheap and dirty meal to beef them up.  Not only that, but around 90% of soy in the United States is genetically modified.  GMO’s can have many unknown side effects to our body and our environment.

The monoculture of soy has taken over the food industry and found its way into many of the processed foods we should try to avoid.  RAW Nature’s Fuel protein bars are void of soy, gluten, whey, lactose and are NON-GMO.  If you are new to the soy free diet try us, because our protein bars truly “Fuel the Body & Calm the Crave.”
